About Travis

Travis Allan is a self-taught woodworker who credits Norm Abram and the New Yankee Workshop for the development of his finely-honed skills. Without Norm’s time, support and guidance, Travis wouldn’t be where he is today.

Raised in High River, Alberta, Travis completed high school in his hometown and then went on to achieve a BSc. in Chemistry from the University of Lethbridge and completed the Chemical Technology Co-op Program at SAIT. For years he enjoyed working as a Service Chemist and subsequently as an oilfield chemical company owner until 2008. At that point Travis, with the help of his wonderful wife, Sarah, decided that it was time to turn his woodworking hobby into his profession.

An avid outdoorsman, Travis spends his leisure time cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter as well as cycling and playing in the Rocky Mountains during the summer. Travis is always looking to satisfy his craving for the outdoors so he and Sarah have travelled around the world to some amazing places. Trekking across Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in East Africa were two of their most notable adventures.
